Resolve common Windows Installer Errors

Question:
When I am installing the software I get a Windows Installer message that states Internal Error followed by 4 digits and the software isn't installed. How can I fix this and install the program?

Answer:

These errors are normally the result of temporary files left in the Windows Temp folder or not having the latest updates for the Windows Installer or InstallShield software on the cmputer. Next, download and install the latest updates for InstallShield's software:

  1. Save the appropriate file below onto the desktop of your computer:
  2. Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility (or right click and choose Extract All if using Windows XP).
  3. After the file has been extracted, double click on the Isscript.msi file to install the Install Shield Script files.
  4. Restart your computer.

    2. Click on Start, then Run, type the following command into the Open: box and click OK. %TEMP%
    3. Click on Edit and then choose Select all
    4. Press Delete to delete all of the temporary files in the directory
  4. Finally, double click on the Installer program which was downloaded previously to install the software.
