Question:
We want to have a team of individuals develop a plan for our company. Is there a way to install Palo Alto Software, Inc's planning programs on our company's computer network?
Answer:
Palo Alto Software, Inc's planning programs cannot be installed on a network server. Rather, they should be installed on the individual computer(s) where the program will be used. The plan itself can then be saved to a network location through File, Save As in order to give multiple users access to the same plan via your company's computer network.
We do have users working in multi-user environments, by only having one user at a time accessing plan data files on a shared drive. For example, you can have a business plan file on a shared drive on your network, and different people access the data files from their workstations, but each user must have a copy of the software package on their local hard drive.
We would like to be able to provide more help with your problem, but technically our software is not a multi-user product, and we don't sell it as multi-user or offer a multi-user license. Each user who uses the product should have a unique license, or there is a violation of copyright.
We have had some reports of our software being used on a network, even though it isn't technically a multi-user product.
These are some of catches:
- The user license is one per user, so you can't use a network to get around the user license.
- We don't offer technical support on networking problems. The product is technically not a network installation product.
- If each user has a valid installation at their computer, they can access a plan posted on a drive available through a network. However, two people can't access the same plan file at the same time.
