Question:
We are producers of chemical products, and we sell to more than 40 countries worldwide. We have distributed countries in geographical regions and in each country, we have some strategic customers. Therefore, for both the marketing and business plan, it is important to consider all countries and customers, in order to track the impact on our results. Does your software has the capability to accomplish this?
Please advise as soon as possible, as we would like to order the software immediately.
We are almost ready to order, both of your products (Business Plan Pro and Marketing Plan Pro). However, I am not very sure that it will suit my needs.
Answer:
The combination of Business Plan Pro and Marketing Plan Pro will do some of what you want, and the Premier versions can export and import components so you can combine worksheets from different plans into a single plan. However, but we don't want to pretend that these two planning products, costing less than $300 each, can do the detailed, multi-site budgeting and consolidation that you get with a high-end budgeting product costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Marketing Plan Pro provides complete breakdowns in up to six different variables, so markets, regions, products, etc. would be no problem but only within a single plan. Business Plan Pro does a standard business plan for a single company. The premier versions of both have facilities for merging multiple plans together.
Both of these premier versions of these products have plan-vs.-actual analysis built in. Your Tables menu includes settings for plan, actual, or variance. Assuming you have your actual data in the same format as in either Business Plan Pro or Marketing Plan Pro (12 columns, rows or record corresponding to the accounting system), then you could paste the actual data into the system to automatically get variance.
