Working with Word
Working with Word

Question:
How can I work with a plan in MS Word?

Answer:
First stop, the manual: it has a chapter dedicated to working with Microsoft Office, which includes a lot more detail than what you have here; and also another whole chapter on fine points of text. That's definitely worth reading.

You'll see there that there are several ways to work with Word, but first let me urge you to consider just sticking with our software entirely. It prints out a very nice professional format, with automatic bold headers, merged tables and charts, etc. Word is a very powerful word processor that does some things with text, graphics, and tables that our software just can't do. However, Word will not create an automatically merged business plan page, with text, tables and charts formatted together, the way our software will.

You can copy from Word and paste into our software but only if you do it carefully. A straight copy and paste will transfer Word's very complex html format into the software's edit, which causes problems. The best shortcut is to open the Word document in the Wordpad application, which is free with Windows, and copy from Wordpad before pasting into our software. That will clean the extra Word formatting.

Of course if you really like Word and want to use all of its features, you can develop your plan with our software until you are finished. Then use the Export command in the File menu to export text, tables, and charts to Word. Unfortunately, once your export, you can't re-import all of the formatting and graphics from Word back into our software, just the part of it that will translate into Wordpad.
