Question: When installing my new Palo Alto Software program, I get an error message which says:
Error 1327.Invalid Drive: D:\ Note: The path (D:\) can vary depending on the drive which is not being detected on the computer.
Answer:
This error can have several possible causes. In the case of encountering this error when installing any Palo Alto Software program, the most likely cause is incorrect information in the Windows Registry. The following information is from InstallShield's Support article (#Q110636) dealing with the error:
- This error has several causes. One of the causes is that the installation was created with a hard-coded path to a drive letter that does not exist on the machine. If this is the cause, there is no way to make the installation install to a different drive letter. The software vendor must be contacted. Other causes include:
- The CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive letter has changed since a previous install.
- You have changed the drive letter of the hard disk that the operating system is installed on, for example, drive C.
- This behavior may occur if a registry key contains an incorrect value in a Data field.
As our software does not have a "hard-coded path to a drive letter" the source of the error will be one of the "Other causes". The most common source of the problem would be the incorrect value in a Data filed of a registry key. You will need to follow the instructions provided by InstallShield's Article (Steps A & B) in order to locate and correct this error.
