| How do I optimize by text formats for printing? | |||
Question:
I love the software for everything but the lack of WYSIWIG word processing. I wish it were Word. I'm having trouble with fonts, indents, other things. Can you help?
Answer:
- Please read the manual on text formatting. We've got a 300+ page manual for you, and even if you downloaded it's still built into the product digitally. Chapter 5 covers the issues of text formatting.
- Be careful with Word. It has a very complex file format, so copying from Word and pasting into The software can produce very strange formatting results if you do it wrong. There is a right way to do it, that makes a huge difference, so please read through those pages in your manual in the chapter on Working with Microsoft Office.
- Keep it simple. This is a plan, not a brochure. The software will give you nice formatting a lot easier if you let it do the formatting for you, with indented text, automatically numbered bullet points, and numbered lists. Use the paragraph formatting tools you have in the toolbar, set your font preferences and stick to them. You can use illustrations, which you can insert directly into the text with the Insert File tool, but make sure they are the right size for the page before you insert them. Work with the software formatting, and not against it, and you'll be a lot better off.
- Text is based on HTML formatting, the standard for the Internet, and if you have to or want to you can always see the underlying HTML code and edit it directly. Click the HTML icon (the letter H) on the far right of the text toolbar to edit the HTML.
