| Run-time Error 13: Type Mismatch solution | |||
Question: When trying to launch or work within any of the Table Wizards in my Business Plan Pro 2005 software I get an error message that says "Run-time Error 13: Type Mismatch". When I click OK to this message the Wizard closes or sometimes I receive some other error messages.
Answer:
The errors which you are encountering when trying to use the Table Wizards can indicate that either the latest updates for the software have not been completely installed or that there is a problem with the Windows Scripting files maintained by Internet Explorer which our software rely upon to generate the Table Wizard window.
The first thing which you should check when troubleshooting these problems is the current version of the software installed on your computer. To do this, open any plan in your software and then click the Help drop down menu and choose About. This screen should reflect the following infromation:
- for Business Plan Pro 2006
Version = 9.06.0011
Core = 8.40.0015
- for Business Plan Pro 2005
Version = 8.09.0010
Core = 8.26.0004
If this is not the information reflected within your software, this indicates that the Update Manager has been unable to download and install the latest updates for the software. You will need to take the following steps to re-install the software will all of the updates included in one step:
- Un-install the program via the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Windows Control Panel.
Make sure to remove both the Business Plan Pro software and the Palo Alto Software's Application Manager. - Download the latest installer for your software:
- Go to the Palo Alto Software Download Web site.
- Enter the product information requested and click Go.
- Download the installer for your software. When prompted, choose to save the file to disk and direct the file to the desktop of your computer.
- Once the download has completed, restart your computer to ensure that no software is running on the computer.
- Once the computer has restared, close any open programs and then double click on the downloaded file to install the software. Installing from this downloaded file will install Business Plan Pro with the latest updates included.
- Once the installation has completed, restart your computer and then launch Business Plan Pro.
After installing the updated version of the software you should check to see if the problem is resolved. If the error persists within your current business plan, you should launch the software and choose to create a new plan to see if the error is specific to your ongoing business plan.
- If the error is specific to your ongoing plan, you may be able to resolve the error at this point by resetting the table formatting for your current plan.
Business Plan Pro stores all of the formatting information for your plan's tables and charts into a specific file. Removing this file will allow Business Plan Pro to recreate the file and return your table formatting to the default settings.
- Exit Business Plan Pro if it is open.
- Browse to the directory within which you have saved your plan.
- Here, you will find two files that share the same plan name, but with differing extensions.
- Locate the *.BPF file for your business plan.
- Delete the *.BPF file. Note: That will have the side effect of losing formatting of your user-defined tables, but your data and formulas will not be lost.
WARNING: do not delete the *.BPD file, for it contains all of your plan data. - Finally, open your plan, and choose File, Save to establish a new formatting file.
- If the error persists and it is not specific to your ongoing buisness plan, the error could be related to some Windows System files which our software use to provide the interface for the Table Settings Wizard. Take the steps within the following article from our Web site in order to update these Windows System files:
