| Reduced Image quality in exported Word document | |||
Question:
Some customers have reported a reduction in the quality of the images which are exported when using the Export to Microsoft Word feature of Business Plan Pro 2006. The images appear to be of a lower quality than the images which appear when exporting to either the Adobe Acrobat PDF Document or Rich Text Formatted Document formats.
Answer:
Palo Alto Software's Development Team has identified the source for the loss of quality in the Microsoft Word export feature. They have released an update for the software which corrects the problem that caused this image quality issue. If enabled, the Update Manager should automatically download and install this update on your computer*.
- *Note: This only applies if you chose to enable the Automatic Update feature of the software upon initial launch. Click the Tools drop down menu and choose Update Product to manually check for available updates.
After installing the update you should re-export your plan to the Microsoft Word document to re-generate the images of the charts. If you are still unhappy with the image quality, the following work-around solutions are suggested:
- Export all of the chart images for use in other software:
- In Business Plan Pro, click the Export Button to launch the Export Wizard.
- Select Chart Images and click next.
- Select the folder where you would like the images to be exported and complete the wizard steps.
- This will make all of your charts available as image files for insertion into an outside program such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Export individual chart images for use in other software:
- In Business Plan Pro, navigate to and select the desired chart.
- Use the toolbar at the top of the chart to switch to "Custom Format".
- Right-click on the chart image then choose: Save As
- Select the desired format (jpg, bmp, etc.) and select the save in destination and file name.
- This will make the selected chart available as an image file for insertion into an outside program such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
One other alternative exists if you do not need to use the interactive features which are provided by the Microsoft Word Document format option. This alternative is to export your business plan to the Rich Text Formatted Document (RTF) and then use Microsoft Word to open the RTF file which is created. This allows the user to export their entire plan to a format which can be opened in Microsoft Word yet avoids the reduced image quality which is caused by the method which is currently used to create the interactive Word Document format version of the plan.
