False spyware detection from Norton Anti-virus

Question:

After my daily updating of my virus program a new definition caught two instances of the known Spyware "TrueActive" (PA58_ExportWizard.ocx) buried in your Application Manager 8.1.msi.

Technical Details:
The file which is being falsly detected as Spyware by Norton Antivirus (Pas8_ExportWizard.ocx) is the control which our software uses to export your plan to different formats. Deleting these files from the hard drive of your computer may not affect the actual running of the software but this will cause problems if you attempt to export your plan in the future. The Windows Installer may also start at the next launch of Business Plan Pro to restore the file from the backup stored within the MSI file for the program. Deleting the MSI file for the software from your computer will cause problems if you attempt to un-install or update the software in the future as the Windows Installer will be attempting to access the MSI files for instructions.

The detections which you are encountering are most likely False Positive detections from Symantec's software unless some virus program has infected these files on your computer. A False Positive is when an anti-virus or spyware program accidentally detects a legitimate program as virus or spyware. For more information about False Positive detections, see Symantec's article below. My best suggestion would be to contact Symantec about the problem as Norton Antivirus is mistakenly detecting this valid, authorized software as illegal spyware software.

What is a false positive?
